The Journey of MOF Ride: From a Small Group to a Thriving Community

In the early months of 2022, a few friends gathered, united by a shared passion: cycling. What started as a casual meetup, a way to break the monotony of everyday life, soon became something more. These Wednesday rides through the bustling streets of Jakarta were not just about exercise; they were about escape, about freedom, and about the joy of being on two wheels with the wind at your back.

But, as with all new ventures, the beginning was not easy. The idea of a weekly commitment seemed daunting. Life was busy, and the temptation to skip "just one ride" was always there. Yet, something about these rides felt different. Each week, the group would muster the determination to show up, even when the legs were tired or the weather less than ideal. And week by week, the momentum grew.

The group, which started with just a handful of riders, began to catch the eye of other cyclists. The camaraderie, the shared laughs, the collective push up a steep hill—it was infectious. People started joining in, some out of curiosity, others out of a deep desire to belong to something bigger. It didn’t matter what brand of bike they rode or what apparel they wore. What mattered was the shared love for cycling and the unspoken bond that formed as the miles passed beneath their wheels.

By 2023, MOF Ride was no longer just a small group of friends. It was a movement. Every Wednesday, more and more cyclists gathered, turning heads as they rode through Jakarta. What had once been a quiet ride had become a lively event, filled with new faces and stories. The group grew not just in numbers, but in strength and skill. And with that growth came new challenges.

Recognizing that not everyone cycled at the same pace, MOF Ride evolved. The rides were now divided into two groups: one for those who craved speed, and another for those who preferred a more relaxed pace, savoring the ride and the company around them. For the newcomers or those just finding their legs, there was always a place in a third, more welcoming group. Here, beginners could learn, grow, and most importantly, feel the joy of being part of the MOF family without any pressure.

Now, in 2024, MOF Wednesday Ride boasts over 60 regular riders—each one a testament to the community that has grown from those humble beginnings. The rides have become more than just a way to stay fit; they are a celebration of friendship, determination, and the shared belief that cycling is better when done together. Every rider brings their own story, their own journey, and together, they push each other to go further, faster, and stronger.

As we look to the future, the spirit of MOF Ride remains the same as it was in those early days. It’s about the joy of the ride, the strength found in community, and the unspoken promise that no matter where you start, there’s always a place for you here.

Thank you to every rider, every friend, every supporter. Let’s keep the wheels turning and continue to grow together.
